8:45 am – 4:30 pm
Twin Cities Campus, East Bank
Create Together Day is a hackathon-style event for anyone with a desire to share great ideas to advance citizen science. Collaborate with citizen science leaders from around the globe to create products, interfaces, or data visualizations to improve specific citizen science projects or the field as a whole. Work on your own or in collaborative teams to create a Zooniverse project in a day, discover how to use virtual/augmented reality for citizen science, capture and visualize location-based data using ArcGIS, leverage free volunteer recruiting and management tools from SciStarter, create new education and outreach materials, or launch an iNaturalist investigation – put your creativity and skills to a challenge that can take citizen science in new directions!
Connect with practitioners that have a wide range of expertise – the following experts and more will be on hand to dig into popular tools:
Charmel Menzel from Esri
Laura Trouille, Brooke Simmons and Lucy Fortson from Zooniverse
Mark SubbaRao from Adler Planetarium and head of the International Planetarium Society
UMN’s Vicki Interrante on virtual and augmented reality tools
not to mention you and your skills!
Bring your data, bring your devices, bring your project ideas – help create something awesome!
We’ll supply breakfast, lunch and endless coffee (or water!).
Cost is $45
Student ticket (with ID) is $25
The event is sponsored in part by the University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering.
