Event: The End of Life & The Birth of ‘Finnish North America’

Please join us for a lecture by Dr. Samira Saramo, recipient of the 2016-2017 Immigration History Research Center’s Michale G. Karni Scholarship. Dr. Saramo is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the John Morton Center for North American Studies at the University of Turku. A Finnish Canadian, Saramo received a Ph.D. in History from York University in Toronto in 2014. Saramo’s work to date has focused on the social history of Finnish North Americans and the analysis of life writing sources, as well as, more broadly, place-making, social activism, death and violence, and age and gender.
