In this hands-on workshop we will demonstrate and interact with digital tools that offer the ability to annotate any text, from literature to lyrics to the internet itself. We’ll begin by exploring Lacuna Stories—a tool (designed by Stanford’s Poetic Media Lab) that allows users to upload texts and mark up that text with commentary, questions, and tags. We’ll then survey Genius—a tool for collaboratively contributing commentary and multimedia annotations to publicly available texts.
