Ryan Bean - Reference and Outreach Archivist, Kautz Family YMCA Archives
Ryan Bean is the Reference and Outreach Archivist for the Kautz Family YMCA Archives, a position he has held since 2009. Through his work, Ryan strives to communicate the enduring legacy of the YMCA to students, scholars and the YMCA. He does this through teaching, writing, and speaking at the local, national and international level. Ryan has contributed chapters to academic volumes on themes as diverse as the YMCA in China and the role of archives in undergraduate education. He has also contributed numerous articles to various YMCA publications on topics related to the history of the YMCA. Most recently he has begun development of a Zooniverse project titled "Decoding Punchcards" which seeks to transcribe over 25,000 service cards of men and women who served under the YMCA banner during WWI. Mr. Bean received his BA from Concordia University, Saint Paul, MN and his MLIS from Dominican University, River Forest, IL.
